  • Tax impact on BISD homeowners: Projected to be $14.74 per month on the average priced home ($161,050) in Burleson ISD, for those who have applied for and received the homestead exemption.
  • No tax increase above the frozen level on the homestead of taxpayers aged 65 and older, except for increases attributable to certain improvements..*

Citizens will be asked to vote on two ballot propositions:

Proposition 1: Bond Election

What is a bond election?
Texas public schools rely on the support of local taxpayers to fund construction and improvements of school facilities, and borrow money in the form of bonds to finance facilities’ design and construction. Bonds must first be approved by voters in an election, then they are sold to investors to raise money for the capital projects.

Proposition 2: TRE

What is a TRE?
A Tax Ratification Election (TRE) provides additional M&O (Maintenance & Operations) dollars. The revenue will be used for capital projects.
